Every story was a gem in its own and like one reviewer said all is material for a full length novel however complete they are and make you feel. Loved Challenge of Quest.Changed my mind Three Goats is just as good, oooh I couldn't say better in the end.
Listen all are great. And to my fellow edit Nazis, the mistakes were few, mild and far between, forgivable and we will not mention them again.
Take a ride in magic on a trail of love, you won't regret it and will revisit happy.

I gave this 5 stars because it deserved that 5 stars. Even thought they were short stories but i was actually satisfied with them. Thank you Megan for your beautiful mind. I also love your other books.
Great read! I really enjoyed this wonderful collection of short fairy tales. Some of them are a bit too short; leaving me wanting more, but that's just a minor nit-pick. I've got several other stories by Megan Derr and all are good. She is one of very very few women authors of M/M romance who tells a nice story without overthetop sex scenes and playing to stereotypes.
These short stories, many based on fairytales, were a delight to read. Each had a unique, unexpected twist. While short, Derr used our own knowledge of these timeless tales to her advantage in helping to add some depth to these timeless characters. Some tales I enjoyed more than others, and some endings were rather abrupt. Overall, however, this is a lovely anthology and quite easy to read. Some tales I even considered reading to my 7 year old since they were very G rated!
The stories are cute- but far too short, even for short stories. Given more development this could have been 5 stars. I love this autbor and have read a LOT of her work and the one thing that is startimg to come through is that the endings almost always feel lacking- as if ahe closes the door on the story about 5-10 pages before itals actually finished. Frustrating because her worlds, characters, and overall plots are so good! There is just that sense that that last final development between characters coukd be fleshed out more.
This collection of M/M fairy tales is certainly worth a read.
The stories differ in length, scope and tone as they were not originally meant to be collected in a single volume. They also differ in achievement, some of them being nice enough, some being very enjoyable and most lying somewhere inbetween.
None of them is a masterpiece, all of them lacking the purity of tone and the ineffable but soon discernible qualities that set out perfectly accomplished fairy tales. That said, writing is generally good -a couple of typos here and there- and the reading experience is pleasant if not memorable.
Ok I WAS drunk when I bought this, I bought this and several other books on a drunken whim and when I discovered my expenditure the next morning decided to make the most of it and give my purchases a read...
Well I loved fantasy and fairy tale re-makes already and this purchase was especially precious to me because it would lead to me buying the high kings golden throne after... followed by the rest of Megan Derr's kindle books and to date I don't regret a single purchase! This collection as well as magic and mischief and the fairytales slashed short story collections are wonderful and I've already re-read them more times than I can count! If you enjoy fantasy with a fairy tale vibe and maybe a hint of LQBTQ romance thrown in then these sweetly written stories are definitely worth every penny weather you're sober at the time of purchase or not LOL!
I loved this wonderful collection of original and fractured fairytales! Derr is capable of weaving a spell with just a few words, setting the scene of the story in a storyteller's voice before bringing the story down to a very human focus. We start off most of the tales with a classic fairytale/folktale opening (in italics to set it off) before the characters of "the prince" or "the bodyguard" become real, named characters with emotions and lives and futures to flesh out the tale. Several of these stories are patterned on classic fairytales like The Pied Piper but fractured with several surprising twists. One thing I absolutely loved was that in every story being gay was not seen as wrong. A king might be holding a tournament for a lucky knight to win a prince's hand in marriage or a stable boy might bestow a kiss upon a king. It was so refreshing to have bigotry taken out of the equation. There are tons of short stories in the collection, some of which have been available individually before (The Stable Boy, Ivan the Heartless). It allows for plenty of enjoyment when read straight through or the pleasure of picking the book up and putting it down for little bites of the whole (great for bookmarking favs to return later). I rarely give 5 stars but I this collection really cast a spell over me and I know that I will return to it often, especially for a cozy retreat after a lousy day or week. I hope that others enjoy it as much as I do.
